In this paper, the synthesis of dicalcium silicate (C2S) via sol-gel (acid-catalyzed) process including aqueous route, non-aqueous and Pechini method is reported. The composition C2S (α, β, γ) polymorphs, by-products, amorphous content established by employing QXRD (quantitative X-ray diffraction) studies. attention has been focused to comprehend assay-amorphous relationships yield. intermediate dried gels have investigated thermal analysis monitor changes in gel structures precursors at low temperatures. synthetic parameters calcination time temperature, Ca/Si molar ratio mode cooling optimized get pure β-C2S with content. dependency β → γ polymorphic transformation on mean crystallite size (Dcryst) studied.
